A bettor profited close to $500,000 from wagers on the downfall of Venezuela's president just before it was officially announced, sparking debate about potential gains made from confidential information of the event.

Bets placed on the crypto-platform, an online prediction market, that Nicolás Maduro would be removed from office by the close of the month increased in the time leading up to President Donald Trump stated on January 3rd that Maduro had been seized.
